Setting Sail

One bright morning I went down to the beach with my Waka and I deiced to travel to go to 

New Zealand.  So I started pushing my Waka into the ocean and jumped in it and 

off I went. 
This journey was amazing then look I could see New Zealand, then i was finally there. 
the country was amazing bright sunny and it would be great to live in.

1. I have learned that all of Maui brothers went fishing but every time Maui would ask to go with them all the brothers would make excuses just so he wouldn't go. 

2. That when Maui hide in the canoe and the brothers went fishing in the morning they thought 

the boat was heavy but then after a well Maui came out and reveled is self to his brothers

and that he did a karakia and then all the brothers keep getting fish and then Maui said it was his turn and he ended up bring up one of the big fish and every one just thought that his brothers were eating the fish. 

3. I also learnt that Maui fish became the North Island of Aotearoa and also Maui canoe was the South Island. 

Stuff that I would like to share that I already new about Maui. 

1. That Maui wanted to slow the sun down in the sky because he doesn't like eating in the dark. 

2.That Maui and his brothers catches the sun to slow it down for when they eat its not dark and they can eat in the light.

Then the grinch toke santa into a car and went away and it was just me and the melted snowman.

“CHRISTMAS AS STARTED YAY!”

Shouted Santa as he was making the snowman outside. I was also helping santa decorate the Snowman, well the Elves were inside making all the parents.

As we were making the snowman there was a big nose, it sounded like a big thump like something landing onto the ground. Santa, The snowman and myself all turned around to see what it was.

It was very hairy and very tall but it was all green and had funny things coming out of his head which was green as well.

“OH NO!” yelled Santa

“What’s the matter?” I asked

“Well it’s the grinch and also look the snowman has melted what can we do now?” said Santa well he was worried.

“The grinch is bad version of me he always tries to ruin christmas every year” explained Santa.

Then the grinch tries to sneak around us to get into santa’s village

“Look look the grinch is trying to get into your village,” I said.

“OH no we have to go after him right away” shouted Santa.

Then off we were chasing after the grinch but instead off Santa getting the grinch it was the other way around the grinch got Santa…

“What are we going to do now and it’s the middle of the night we need Santa it’s time to deliver the gifts to houses!”

I said.

So me myself and I jumped into the sleigh and hooked the reindeers onto the sleigh then off we went to go and find Santa claus.

“Look it’s Santa let’s get Santa back,”

and we starting to go faster and faster and look we are next to them

“quick jump into the sleigh Santa”

and he just made it “

yay you made it now let’s get going”

And off we went.

“We did it we got all the gifts delivered and we did it in time” cheered Santa

Everyone got what they wanted and they had an amazing christmas.

Today we have been learning about how they do Christmas in Mexico. We had to read a story and once we finish we made a picture. I learnt that After each of the parades there is a party and a pinata is broken. All the homes are decorated because a different home is chosen each night.

We have been learning about Christmas traditions around the world. Today I learned how other country's say Christmas. 
Here are 2 ways to say Christmas in different langues 
Welsh: Nadolig Llawen 
and in Swedish: God Yul 
I also learned that Italian people eat and drink very little on Christmas day because this is a special day of prayer.  

All around the world people put different  food and drinks out for Santa.  
here are some things that people but out for Christmas.
like cookies and milk and maybe some carrots, beer and cookies.

We have been reading pigeon book there were called, 
- Don't Let The Drive The Bus, 
- Don't Let The Pigeon Stay Up Late, 
Don't Let The Pigeon Have A Puppy 
-The Pigeon Needs A Bath. 

After reading all these book we got to pick one and wright our opinion why we think they should or shouldn't do it.

I think that the pigeon should be aloud to driving the bus or even any other big vehicle or maybe any vehicle at all because you never know what would happen

Well and also he won't be able to reach the pedals to drive because he has very short legs.  

I think he shouldn’t because… he won’t be able to reach the pedals and see over the steering wheel to see where he is about to go.

I don’t think he should be able to drive the bus because well you never know what would happen and also he doesn't have is driving licens.

AWW as this ugly green monster ended up in this dark tiny room,  but the really strange thing is this all happened on halloween. But for halloween people keep popping out off places in these costumes , they were dressing up because it was… Halloween. This ugly green monster and this wee cute white cat were just standing/sitting in the middle of this room.

MEOW as this cat was starting to wake up but there was a problem, this cat didn’t know that one there were people all dressed up and hiding to scare people and two there was an ugly green monster standing right behind him and he is not dressed up it was a real monster.

This monster had really long rotten nails coming out off his ugly green hands, he has an enormous white bread dragging down from his face. But then there was this wee tiny white fluffy kitten laying on this pink pillow the cat looked like an enormous marshmallow well that what the ugly green monster thought.

So… this fluffy kitten was asleep but it a wake now and he ( kitten ) is waiting for the perfect time to turn around and find out what is making all the noise. Then he said to himself `` this is the perfect time right now in 3 1 2 3 boom `` he turned around and saw an enormous green ugly monster just looking at him but the problem was this little kitten got a big fright that is attacked with the kitten long nails and the monster got a fright and tried to find its was out and ran down the road screaming saying `` HELP ME HELP ME IM SCARED ``

I have been learning how to write and information report. We got to pick a type of weather I choose Lightning because I don't know much things about Lightning and I wanted to know more.

What is that big flash? It was Lightning.

Be careful around Lightning it may hurt you and don't stand up straight because that means there is a very high chance you get struck by Lightning. There are 12 different types of Lightning all over the world. If you hear a crash or a bang from the sky then you know Thunder and Lightning is coming.

Lightning is an electric current because lightning is made by electricity. Within a thundercloud way up in the sky, many small bits of ice ( frozen raindrops ) bump into each other as they move around in the air and through clouds. After a while, the whole cloud fills up with an electrical charge and will turn into bright black cloud. Then it burst out Thunder and Lightning.

The ice colloids together and makes a electric charge in the clouds which will make an electric charge also in the ground and then they will try and join together.

Intracloud is the most common Lightning. Sometimes the process take a places within the clouds and then look’s like a big bright flash of light which flickers in the sky.

All Lightning is dangerous, but the cloud-to-ground lightning is the most dangerous type of Lightning. Most cloud-to-ground Lightning strikes come from the negatively charged bottom to the cloud traveling to the positively charged ground blow.   

Lightning is approximately 54,000 degrees Fahrenheit. That is six times hotter than the surface on the sun.

Lightning seems to be clear white- yellow colour, but it really depends on the background. Colours of Lightning can be yellow, white, blue, purple and orange ish color.

Lightning is very cool because of the big flash it makes in the sky. Also it is cool because Lightning can make different colours. Maybe next time you should try and watch out for a big flash in the sky.

Manaakitanga- Tukana Teina

   Today we did Digi Awards it was about manaakitanga. Manaakitanga is about Hospitably, Kindness, generosity and support. I did a Stop Motion and then put it onto I  movie. My Digi Awards was about buddy reading how there is an little 5 year old and she  says she cant read, then I come along and support her and help her read and then latter on  she gets much better at reading and she way more happier at school. I picked buddy reading because it is a common thing that little kids need help with.

Coconut Raisin Bliss Balls

Today we did an experiment about how to make Coconut Raisin Bliss Balls.

Mr Breach put all the ingredients into the blender and then he pushed the button down to make it all mix together. I thought it looked a bit yuck, when it came out of the container because it was all mashed. After that, Mr Breach gave us each a spoonful of coconut raisin bliss ball.

First we had to turn it into a shape of a circle. After that we got to pick to roll it in cocoa or coconut. I chose cocoa because I don't really like coconut. After we picked our topping, we got to look at it.

It looked squishy and round and it looked like it was almost about to melt.  Then we got to smell it, it smelled like cocoa but not in a good way. I think I put too much cocoa on top of my coconut raisin bliss ball but it also smelled like toffee and coffee. After that we got to feel it, it felt really squishy it also felt like a cube shape.

Then SUDDENLY we got to have a taste… at first I just licked the coconut raisin bliss ball and when I licked it, it tasted YUCK. But after that I took a little bite in the corner of the bliss ball.  It tasted a little better, but I didn't end up eating it all up because the aftertaste was not YUM at all.  

After we got to look, smell, feel and taste I am glad that we didn't have to eat another one of them. Don’t think I could eat anymore coconut raisin bliss balls even though they sound really yummy…..they're not!

For maths my group and I have been learning how to work out division using my five time tables. It is very challenging. I like doing maths because it was really fun and interesting. Here is my maths work. My group name is called the triangles.

I have liked learning about Monarch Butterfly and it was cool to find information about them.

We only see  Monarch butterflies flying in summer because

They normally go back to their  home when it is cold.

The maori word for Monarch butterfly is Kuini Purerehua.

Monarch butterflies that live in mexico began to make their journey

to United States. As soon as they reach United States female butterfly go and get milkweed plant to lay  their eggs.

The butterfly have three main body parts which are called head, thorax and abdomen and also antenna, 6 legs.

There other body parts are called proboscis and legs.

Monarch butterflies eat milkweed and they when they are caterpillars eat swap plant leaves.

I have like learning about Monarch butterfly and finding out all this

information.

Is that an moving stick? Is that stick alive? It must be an stick insect. It is an insect. It is an stick insect. The Maori word for an stick insect is ro.

What is an stick insect? If you think you have found and stick insect it must have to have 3 body parts which is called Head, Thorax and Abdomen, a long thin body with 6 legs as well  and some antennae.

They live on trees and in bushes. Some stick insects are different colors.

Stick insects eats leaves. They keep safe by hiding and being camouflage from birds, wasps and possums. In New Zealand there are  many different kinds of Stick insects.

They are  amazing insects and they are very clever and hiding from others.

Snot Writing

Today I had to finish of my snot writing. We got to play with it and learn about it before we had  to write about it. 

I love creating a writing about this.

Snot Writing

It was really gooey and mushy.

It looked yuck and slimy.

It looked like it was going to be sticky but it was really slimy.

It looked like from my point that it was going to spread.

It looked like it had yellow spots and very lumpy.

Then I got to smell the yuck green stuff.

It smelt like strawberry soap and lovely shampoo.

At the start I thought it would smell like ooze and yucky stuff but no.

It felt really gooey and slimy once I touched it.

It felt like oil and butter.

And It felt like the fun was just about to begin.

It feels really weird like sticky things stuck to the ground.

It sounded like popping and goopy sound.

It sounded like bubbly and slapping noses.

Inside of me i was really attracted to it.

But i was weird how the SNOT stained my hands.

        This was fun to do. Mostly fun to play with it.
