Today we had top team and we had to get into out group in my group I had Tori, Sahana, Reige, Jed and Matua.

The first event we had was  gutter ball then we went onto the....... Map hop which we had to get to the other side then make the map. My favorite one was the water and for the water one we had to hold a                                             pole and put and bucket on top and walk around.
             
                   It was really great having top team and getting wet on a very hot day like this.
                  we did top team for fun and to run around on a hot day and get wet and have fun

Christmas In France: 
In France, a Nativity crib is often used to help decorate the house. Christmas in Australia:  
In Australia, Christmas comes in the towards the beginning of the summer holidays! Children have their summer Holidays in mid December to early February, so some people might even be camping at Christmas, Because it's so hot at Christmas time in Australia, there are quite often massive bush fires across the country. Many volunteer bush fire fighters are indolence saving people and property and travel from all over Australia to help in other states

Christmas In New Zealand

Christmas In New Zealand Is less about snow and sleigh bells and more about Sun, Sand and barbecues in the backyard. In 1642, Abel Tasman's crew celebrated the first Christmas dinner In New Zealand ( NZ )  Santa or Christmas parades take place throughout the whole of New Zealand In November and December each year. Many traditional Christmas songs have been adapted for a New Zealand audience and conditions.  I think it is very interesting finding facts that I sin't know about Christmas in New Zealand. I hope you have also found out some facts just from reading this!

Maths Games

Today we are learning!

We have been learning maths by playing games. 

The game I was playing was called Merry Christmas Maths facts Fun.

In this game I had to complete maths questions before the time ran out and 

once the time ran out I had to see how many Christmas lights I earned, to put onto 

the house for Christmas time.

I have 43 lights from answering questions so 

I put them into different places 

and once I was finished, the lights flash brightly.

That in the game you have to pick a times table and the computer gave me a question. I like to challenge myself so I clicked onto Times.

Amazing Dogs

We have been learning about how to write persuasive pieces of writing. We had to convince Miss Mcleod to get a pet dog or cat. I choose to persuade Miss Mcleod to get a Dog. This is my persuasive writing. I had to use persuasive words and purchase that were  convincing. I learned all different types of things about dogs. I enjoyed it because learning things and also just writing it and getting things from other people. Read to find out why Miss McLeod should get a dog!

                Amazing dogs

Did you know dogs are playful? I think Miss Mcleod should  to get a pet dog because they are playful, helpful and good senses.

The first reason why Miss Mcleod should get a pet dog is because they are playful. They are playful because they play games with you and also they like you teaching them tricks. The games they might would like play Soccer, tag, go home stay home 1 2 3 and play fetch. You can teach them cool tricks like playing dead, roll over and shake. It is very interesting to watch because sometimes they do weird things.

Secondly, Miss Mcleod should get a dog because they are helpful, they are helpful by they eat your leftovers which means less food to throw out. They are also helpful because they can grab your newspaper if there is any  they are very helpful.

Lastly dogs have good senses because they can sense before an earthquake. They can all so senses if a visitor came up your driveway or outside of your house dog have good senses of smell and hearing.

Overall I think Miss Mcleod should get a pet dog because they are Helpful,Playful and they have good sense of smell and they can hear lots.

Calendar Art 2016

For Calendar Art we had to take a photo outside with a paint brush pointing up to the sky and print it of in black and white, then we had to paint the picture and we could do what ever we what put it had to be up in the sky I did a rainbow and a sun in the Conner.

Moon

For reading we had to write simple sensation and more then a simple sensations. We had to write our name in a box and write a simple sensation about the picture and under the simple sensations we had to write more then a simple sensations which is a compared sensations. The first picture was three kids on the moon and then we had another picture which was two girls on a motorbike on the sand we had to do the same thing as the first one.

A simple sensations is were you need to have a full stop,cap til  letters,Verbs and Nouns.

A compared sensations is were you put two sensations together bur put the special word and in.

My Blanket progress

For my project i am making is a knitted blanket and though a  few weeks it has been hard to do so much work on the blanket I have made so much progress so far with the blanket i think it is going to look brilliant once i'm done it. I hope it looks like it what i manged.

New Families Information Report

We had to write a information report about South Hornby  School so new families can let there children join our school. The writing is about our school and also for new families to come to our school. It is all about what we do at South Hornby School and that we would love more people to come to our school. On it, it has things we do and opportunities we can do for people at out school and so much more.

 New Families Information Report

At South Hornby School every year we love to give new families  opportunities  to come to South Hornby School and make new friends, also we do all different types of things. It is a sensational school for people to come to.

Almost every year we have new families come to South Hornby School.

We have incredible people at our school.

We have trips and there are different trips for each Syndicate.

The seniors go on all sorts of   Trips  and our first trip was at spencer park, that was a fun trip. The trip was for all of us to meet each other properly. The middles have been to Fudge Cottage for their inquiry. For the Seniors as our last trip it is a camp. Every year at term 4 we go to camp it is really cool.  We have heaps of fun and we learn lots.

South Hornby School offers people from year 5 and 6 to try out for Choir but  as well there is Kapa  Haka if you want to be in Kapa Haka you have to be year 4,5 and 6. In Choir and Kapa Haka we do lots of amazing performances. Choir and Kapa Haka are big opportunities for people to join.

We have Special activities days at our school one is that we have hot dog days and we also have Pizza days we only just started pizza days for a new thing and we have mufti days, mufti days is where you can  where whatever you want. We have Book Character day once a year. Book character day is were you dress up as a book character that you know. Our last special activities things that we do is  Awhina Activities, Awhina Activities is when you go into your your group that you got put in and you do all different types of activities. For Awhina Activities you don't need to bring any money but the rest of the activities you need to bring money and also you don't need to bring money for Book Character day either. We are getting money to raise money for all different types of charities  and also get some more thing for our school.

Over all i think you should come to South Hornby School because it is a fantastic school and we do lots of learning also you can get lots of new friends here as well.

 

Digi Awards

For Digi  Awards we had to pick out of Digital Art or Movie Making or Website create or Green Screen or Digital sandpit . I picked out of all of them Digital Art. Digital Art is properly easier  out of all of them. In Digital Art you learn different types of angles and so much more things. You also create things. I think Digital Art was really fun to do.

    Saving Kiwi’s

For Digi Awards I did Digital Art. We learned about Be The Change and what that means. I want to Be The Change for the kiwi because they are endangered in New Zealand. For Digital Art I made some props. I learnt that there are different types of camera angles and how to take photos using different camera angles. I used a widescreen shot with my focus in the centre. In my picture Makayla was the kiwi and Sophie is being the change by feeding the kiwi. I found choosing the right scene hard because it had to look right.

    

My Blanket

     I have changed my project because if i did 200 squares i will not finish. So i had a idea which will be         much easy. My idea was that i make like a duvet and then stuff it so it is all cozy. After that  I will put my knitting around the outside of the item.  Than I will put some pattern on the front of the duvet and then hopefully I might be done with my project that I created. What I am created it will be predeceased as a quilt

I hope it turns out like i think i will be.

I have picked water polo because I had no Idea what it was so I thought I might find out some things about water polo. Now I know lots about water polo and I also picked water polo because I thought the photo that I saw before I pick it, it looked interesting.  In reading we are learning about Olympics there are 7 days and in them 7 days we have different  types of activities to do about Olympics.  Today we had to click on a link and it took us to all different types of sports that the Olympians are doing I picked water polo. I had to find out the rules in water polo what you do in water polo and also about water polo.

Holiday writing

WE have been doing holiday writing this week this is my holiday writing.

2nd may 2016 Holiday writing

Plan

-went to mum’s blood test

-willowbank ( feed the animals )

-went to skate park in rolleston ( had pizza there )

- went to the pools in rolleston ( ice cream there )

In the holidays keegan and mum and I went to mum’s blood test. So she could get her sugar done. We watched mum get it done.. It looked weird because we watch the blood came up the tube. It looked crazy also but mum said that she didn't feel anything.

After that we went to Willowbank. It was so cool because we got to feed all the lovely animals. After we got the animals  some food I got farm food and eel food my mum and my brother got farm food as well but they didn't get eel food, because they were scared to feed them. The first animals we got to see where the eels, which was cool because I fed them with the smelly eel food. They were coming up to the first platform there were 2 platforms. It was a bit scary but it was cool at the same time. I got to touch one of the eels it felt weird and slimy. Suddenly one of the other eels jumped up onto the first platform next to the other one and well I was feeding and feeling it the other one was trying to bite me it was a bit scary then it ended up bitey me it felt like a needle but it was ok. After that a duck came up to me and tried to take the food of me it was strange.

After that we got to go to the colourful birds. They were really cool because they had different colours the big bird  was a bit scary because it came up to the fence where you could feed them. But we didn’t get to feed them because we didn't have the bird food. But it was ok because didn’t want to feed the big ones any way.  That was a really fun thing that we did together.

Suddenly on the same day mum asked us if we want to go to Rolleston Skate Park and have pizza there.  We said yes please. The pizza was yummy but we didn’t stay there for long because there were lots of people on the skate part and the playground. So we left the skate park after our delicious pizza.

After that we went to the Rolleston Pool. It was fun because mum came in the pool with us. We played tag, race’s and we were diving into the pool. I loved it. We had a ice cream there after word yummy and we ended up going home. It was the funnest day I had with mum and my brother.

Over all I liked about my holidays was going to the Rolleston Pool because mum came in the pool with us and we played all different things together.

We have been learning how to do  sunset art. For  sunset art we were learning different colors like green is land but to make the land you do the same as we  did to the sun but as the color green. On the paper then smudge it with your thumb  and yellow,red and orange and smudge them colors together is the sun and than blue is the water and you do the same thing like for the sun and the land.

Our Senior Syndicate went out side and got a piece of cardboard.  Then we had to get a teacher to stick it to our back then we had to go around and get people to write nice scommentson it.

Comic about devices

We have been learning how to keep a device safe when you are on one. Here it is.

Never have a Milo or a drink next to a device because it can... then it will go on the device and that won't be good.

Never hold a device by the screen. Always have the lid shut when you are walking around or the screen will turn out like this!  

Never walk around with the device open, because if someone is walking, coming towards the person, they push your device into you, then you could break it by dropping it. So do not walk around with the lid open.

In reading we have been learning to make our writing fantastic and more interesting. To do this we have been re-crafting our writing. We used a describe map which helps us plan our ideas in more detail. Our topic was Autumn. Each time we used better adjective, and similes. These are highlighted so we can see our writing get better.
